QASH, pronounced as “cash,” is the native currency used on the Liquid platform, a global cryptocurrency entity striving to tackle liquidity issues in crypto investments. The primary goal of Liquid is to offer a streamlined method to purchase cryptocurrency and convert it back to fiat currency. As most crypto exchanges have varying levels of liquidity based on their trading pairs, Liquid integrates these separate exchanges into one holistic network, maximizing potential liquidity.
The Liquid platform achieves this via its Liquid World Book, which compiles orders and prices from exchanges around the globe into a single accessible order book. This allows any trader, irrespective of their location, to purchase or sell cryptocurrencies using their preferred fiat currency. QASH was created by Mike Kayamori (CEO) and Mario Gomez Lozada (President and CTO), who founded Quoine, the predecessor of Liquid, in 2014. Kayamori has a background in investment, having served as the Senior Vice President of SoftBank Group and as the Chief Investment Officer of Gungho Asia. On the other hand, Lozada spent 11 years as Merrill Lynch's CTO in Japan before taking the role of Chief Information Officer at Credit Suisse Japan.
