Question 2

What is Wanchain (WAN)?

Accepted Answer

Wanchain is a distributed financial infrastructure that seeks to connect and exchange value between different blockchain ledgers in a decentralized manner. Think of it like a distributed \"bank\" that allows institutions or individuals to set up their own digital-teller windows to provide various financial services based on digital assets. Wanchain's ledger supports not only smart contracts, but also token exchange privacy protection, making it a robust and versatile infrastructure for digital assets. It uses the latest cryptographic theories to build a non-proprietary cross-chain protocol, and a distributed ledger that records both cross-chain and intra-chain transactions.

Question 3

Who are the creators of Wanchain?

Accepted Answer

Wanchain was founded by Jack Lu, a respected figure in the blockchain space. Before founding Wanchain, Lu co-founded Factom and Wanglu Tech, a blockchain application development company that has been a significant contributor to the open-source Wanchain project. The president of Wanchain is Dustin Byington, another blockchain veteran who founded Bitcoin College in 2014 and co-founded both Tendermint and Satoshi Talent.

Question 4

How does Wanchain work?

Accepted Answer

Wanchain uses a system known as the \"Locked Account Generation Scheme\" for securing funds and keys when multiple parties are involved in a transaction. Based on Shamir’s Secret Sharing Scheme, it breaks up a key into shares and distributes them to all participating parties, bringing about increased decentralization and transactional stability. Wanchain generates locked accounts through a multi-party computing process that allows transactions to be carried out, even if some validators are offline, as long as a minimum number of shares is present. Moreover, any transaction with a locked account happens via the original chain, enabling any chain to easily integrate and interact with Wanchain.

Question 5

What is Wanchain’s Locked Account Generation Scheme?

Accepted Answer

The Locked Account Generation Scheme is a major security feature of Wanchain. The scheme enhances security by distributing the key of a locked account into multiple shares that are then distributed to all participants involved in a transaction. This method of distribution increases the decentralization of Wanchain and provides more stability because transactions can still be carried out even if some Validators are offline, as long as a minimum number of shares is present.

Question 6

Who can use Wanchain?

Accepted Answer

Wanchain’s financial services are accessible to both institutions and individuals. Anyone can set up a virtual teller window in the Wanchain “bank” to provide services, like loan origination, asset exchanges, credit payments and transaction settlements based on digital assets. Under Wanchain's blockchain infrastructure, more people can participate in, and enjoy the benefits of, financial services based on digital assets.
