Question 2

What Is VeriCoin (VRC)?

Accepted Answer

VeriCoin is a Proof of Stake-Time (PoST) cryptocurrency. It was originally a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) cryptocurrency that also utilized Proof of Work (PoW) methods for mining coins in its early stages. The developers started working on the PoST solution after the MintPal VRC hack to enhance security and implemented a roll back mechanism. VRC does not have a pre-mined supply or an initial public offering (IPO). The minimum stake time for VeriCoin is 8 hours, so any holders of the currency must keep their stake for at least this period of time to receive rewards.

Question 3

What Makes VeriCoin Unique?

Accepted Answer

The unique facets of VeriCoin revolve around two key features: VeriFund and VeriSMS. VeriFund is an innovative solution designed to ensure the stability and growth of VeriCoin. It acts as a counter to the inflationary effects of the proof of stake system. When the supply of VRC coins increases, VeriFund purchases a liquid supply of VeriCoin, effectively ensuring the growth and stability of the coin's value. VeriSMS, on the other hand, is an SMS wallet system that enables users to access the VeriCoin network from their mobile phones. Users can also use this feature to conduct a variety of operations including checking balances, setting passwords, and sending transactions.

Question 4

How Does VeriCoin’s Proof of Stake-Time Work?

Accepted Answer

In VeriCoin, the Proof of Stake-Time (PoST) system is a unique take on the traditional Proof of Stake (PoS) model. PoST uses the concept of \"coin age\" and applies it to a blockchain network. Coin age is determined by the number of coins in a wallet and how long they have been held. However, unlike PoS, in PoST the coin age is reset after they are staked, introducing a time factor that encourages active participation and movement in the network, rather than incentivizing holding.
