Question 2

What Is Ren (REN)?

Accepted Answer

Ren (REN) is an open protocol designed to enable the movement of value across different blockchains. It's a crucial part of the broader decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem, as it allows for direct transfers between separate blockchain networks. This kind of interoperability was previously very challenging without a third-party intermediary, making Ren a unique and innovative aspect of the DeFi world.

Question 3

Who are the creators of Ren (REN)?

Accepted Answer

Ren was founded in 2017 by a team based in Singapore. While the specific individuals behind the project have chosen to remain somewhat anonymous, they are known to be experienced professionals in the world of blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Question 4

How does Ren (REN) work?

Accepted Answer

Ren works through its central product, the RenVM. This system is what enables the direct and permissionless transfer of cryptocurrency tokens between different blockchains. When a user wishes to make a cross-chain transaction, the RenVM takes custody of the tokens on the original blockchain, issues an equivalent amount of tokens on the destination blockchain, and holds the initial tokens in escrow until the transaction is reversed. This proof-of-reserve system ensures that the value of the tokens always remains the same, no matter which blockchain they're on.

Question 5

What makes Ren (REN) unique?

Accepted Answer

The main appeal of Ren is its ability to facilitate interoperability between diverse blockchains. As the broader DeFi ecosystem continues to grow, the ability to seamlessly move value across different networks is becoming increasingly important. By enabling these kinds of transactions, Ren has positioned itself as an important player in the DeFi world.

Question 6

What is RenVM?

Accepted Answer

RenVM, or Ren Virtual Machine, is the core product of the Ren ecosystem. It is a decentralized custodian capable of holding and transferring assets from one blockchain to another. The security of these transactions is ensured by a network of \"darknodes\". These darknodes are rewarded with REN tokens for their work in maintaining the network and ensuring its invulnerability to attacks.

Question 7

How much Ren (REN) is in circulation?

Accepted Answer

At present, there are 1000.0M REN in circulation.

Question 8

Where can you buy Ren (REN)?

Accepted Answer

Question 9

How is the Ren network secured?

Accepted Answer

The Ren network is secured by a network of \"darknodes\" that validate transactions and maintain the integrity of the system. To run a darknode, operators are required to bond (lock up as collateral) a certain amount of REN tokens. This investment ensures that operators have a stake in the network's success and behave honestly.

Question 10

Is Ren (REN) a good investment?

Accepted Answer

That's a question each individual must answer based on their own research and understanding of cryptocurrency and decentralized finance. Remember, investing in any form of cryptocurrency, including Ren (REN), is always risky, so only invest what you can afford to lose.

Question 11

How to keep your Ren (REN) safe?

Accepted Answer

To keep your Ren (REN) secure, it's recommended to store it in a hardware wallet—a physical device that holds your cryptos offline. This way, your REN is less vulnerable to online hacks. Always remember to keep your private keys private, as they're effectively the 'password' to access your Ren.
