Question 4

How Does Lynx Work?

Accepted Answer

What sets Lynx apart from many other cryptocurrencies is its unique 'Hybrid Proof of Work' (HPoW) system. Traditional PoW systems tend to encourage competitive, profit-driven mining which demands expensive, high-powered computer processing. This creates an inequitable system as only those that can afford high-powered mining hardware and the associated electrical costs can participate. With HPoW, Lynx aims to eradicate these issues. Their system discourages high-volume mining hardware, as there are no incentives to mine it for profit. Lynx's code is deliberately set up to deter large scale, professional mining outfits, instead fostering a network of low-power devices (like Raspberry Pis) that can be run by everyday users. The global mining cost of Lynx is therefore maintained at just a few dollars a day, making the cryptocurrency significantly more accessible and eco-friendly.

Question 5

What Makes Lynx Unique?

Accepted Answer

Lynx's unique selling point is undoubtedly its low cost and low power approach to mining, made possible through its Hybrid Proof of Work system. The low cost to maintain mining hardware, along with the low hardware output, reduces the challenges of mining and lowers the entry barriers for new participants. Moreover, this approach ensures a democratic system where undue concentration and control of mining farms is discouraged. In essence, Lynx is designed to be a more environmentally-friendly and inclusive cryptocurrency option. The overall structure of the Lynx network also contributes to its stability. Its indifference to acute mining hardware failure reduces the risk of significant disruptions affecting the global Lynx network.
