Question 1

How Much Does Livepeer (LPT) Cost Today?

Accepted Answer

Livepeer (LPT) is currently trading at £ 1.34. The price has increased in the past 24 hours, demonstrating the volatile nature of cryptocurrencies.

Question 2

What Is Livepeer (LPT)?

Accepted Answer

Livepeer is a decentralized protocol project that focuses on delivering a scalable live video streaming network. This network is not only fully decentralized but also incentivized through the use of cryptocurrency tokens. It's aimed to serve as the live media layer within the decentralized web (web3) stack. The protocol is designed to be an economically efficient alternative to traditional centralized broadcasting platforms.

Question 3

How Does Livepeer Work?

Accepted Answer

Livepeer is built on the Ethereum blockchain and uses its native token, LPT, as a staking currency. Broadcasters use Ether (ETH) to broadcast video on the network while nodes contributing to the network's functionalities earn ETH as fees from these broadcasters. The LPT token allows participants to perform work on the network and aids in coordinating how this work gets distributed. It also provides security to ensure work is accurately and honestly completed.

Question 4

What Does the Livepeer Token (LPT) Do?

Accepted Answer

The Livepeer Token (LPT) plays several essential roles within the Livepeer ecosystem: 1. It acts as a bonding mechanism in the delegated proof of stake system. Here, stake is delegated to transcoders (validators) that participate in the protocol to transcode video and validate work. The token, and possible slashing due to protocol violation, serves as a security measure against various forms of attacks. 2. It helps to distribute work across the network according to the amount of staked and delegated tokens, serving as a coordination mechanism. 3. The LPT token serves as a unit of account that is exclusive to the Livepeer ecosystem, giving rise to a SectorCoin concept that could be applied to additional functionalities in the future.

Question 5

How Is the Livepeer Network Secured?

Accepted Answer

The security of the Livepeer network is anchored by the LPT token through a delegated proof of stake system. This system involves delegating stakes to transcoders who transcode video and validate work. In doing so, the system offers protection against multiple types of attacks, thanks to the potential slashing that could occur due to protocol violation.

Question 6

Who Created Livepeer (LPT)?

Accepted Answer

As with many blockchain projects, the creators of Livepeer aren't as publicly recognized as the project itself. However, the team comprises experts in various fields, including video streaming technology, blockchain, and business. They are continuously working to improve the platform and make decentralized broadcasting a reality.

Question 7

Who Are the Potential Users of Livepeer?

Accepted Answer

Moreover, any stakeholder can fulfill various roles within the network, making it beneficial to a wide range of users. The functionality introduced by Livepeer can be applied to multiple media services, including DVR, closed captioning, ad insertion/monetization, and analytics.
