Accepted Answer

Litecoin operates on the same fundamental principle as Bitcoin, in a decentralized manner where transactions are conducted on a peer-to-peer basis. This quicker block time reduces the risk of double spending attacks and creates a smooth, swift transaction experience.

Question 5

What makes Litecoin unique?

Accepted Answer

Additionally, the Scrypt proof of work mining algorithm used by this altcoin is more memory intensive and inclusive for GPU mining, thus keeping larger mining conglomerates at bay, and promoting decentralization.

Question 6

How is the Litecoin network secured?

Accepted Answer

The security of the Litecoin network relies heavily on its proof-of-work consensus algorithm. Unlike Bitcoin, which uses the SHA-256 algorithm, Litecoin utilizes the Scrypt algorithm. This proves to be a deterrent for ASIC miners, thus adding another layer of security to the network.
