The current price of RLC, the native token of the iExec platform, is $ 1.93. In the last 24 hours, it has decreased by -4.42%%.
iExec RLC, simply known as RLC, is a native cryptocurrency of the iExec platform - an open-source, decentralized cloud computing service running on the Ethereum blockchain. Designed for decentralized applications (dApps), RLC allows for on-demand access to a range of computing resources via the iExec cloud. RLC is short for "Run on Lots of Computers", emphasizing the broad availability of distributed computing power.
iExec was founded by Gilles Fedak and Haiwu He, with Fedak currently serving as the CEO and He as the Head of Asian-Pacific Region. Fedak holds a PhD from the University of Paris Sud and has an extensive background in INRIA research. Haiwu He, with M.Sc. and PhD from the University of Sciences and Technologies of Lille, France, complements Fedak's expertise. The iExec team successfully launched its token sale in April 2017, raising over $12 million in exchange for 86,999,784 RLC.
iExec RLC operates by taking processing-intensive computations off-chain, ensuring smoother on-chain functions for blockchain platforms. iExec achieves this through XtremWeb-HEP, an open-sourced Desktop Grid Software. Desktop Grid Computing enables pooling of unused computing resources for utilization by applications and platforms. As per iExec's whitepaper, XtremWeb-HEP "implements all the needed features" to make this possible on a global scale, including "fault-tolerance, multi-applications, multi-users, hybrid public/private infrastructure, deployment of virtual images, data management, security and accountability, and many more". This means that any dApp can utilize any available computing resource in the iExec framework to run their programs effectively.
The iExec RLC platform is known for its off-chain computation feature, made possible by XtremWeb-HEP software. This software brings together spare computing power from around the world to process data-intensive processes that normally slow down blockchain operations. What differentiates iExec from its competitors is its focus on serving dApps, building a future of blockchain-powered, decentralized internet. Unlike other platforms that aim at creating decentralized supercomputers, iExec is targeting dApp development and sustainability with its services.
The current circulating supply of iExec RLC is 72.4M, with a total supply of 87.0M.
iExec RLC can be purchased on the following exchanges: Binance, BTCTurk, Mercado Bitcoin. However, it's important to ensure that you store your RLC securely to prevent loss or theft.
As with any cryptocurrency, it's vital to maintain proper safety measures when handling iExec RLC. This includes using reputable wallets for storage, regularly updating your wallet software, and taking care not to reveal sensitive information (like private keys) to third parties. Regularly backing up your wallet can also be a useful preventative measure against unexpected data loss.
