Question 2

What is Hush?

Accepted Answer

Hush is considered one of the most secure and technologically advanced privacy coins out there. It's built on the zkSNARK protocol, which comes from the Zcash 1.0.13 build, and its unique features include support for secure nodes (TLS) and TOR nodes. Hush was created to offer comprehensive metadata protection by anonymizing it at the protocol level. It was launched on November 21, 2016, serving as a token and a secure messaging platform. Built on its own blockchain network, Hush functions as a medium of exchange and a store of value.

Question 3

What are the distinguishing features of Hush?

Accepted Answer

One significant feature of Hush is HushList, a unique protocol and private messenger incorporated within the Hush network. This protocol allows building a contact list with an unlimited number of receivers. These receivers have to always use zaddrs, ensuring their anonymity. Users can choose to send messages from a pseudonymous address, known as a taddr. All HushList memos, or messages, are stored on the blockchain. Each message is encrypted so that it can only be decrypted by the receiver's private key. This feature allows not just anonymous communication but also censorship-resistant storage of information. Hush also offers a dual-mode of transactions. Users can choose to shield their transactions or make them transparent using the ZCash protocol. A key differentiator for Hush is its ability to hide all metadata and its interoperability with forks.

Question 4

Who created Hush?

Accepted Answer

Hush was launched on November 21, 2016, by a team of developers passionate about privacy and security. The coin's codebase is a fork of the Zcash 1.0.9, designed to add further layers of security and privacy to transactions. The team behind Hush has chosen to remain anonymous, consistent with the privacy-focus of the project.

Question 5

How does Hush work?

Accepted Answer

Hush operates on its unique blockchain network, where it acts as a store of value and a medium of exchange for using the secure messaging platform. Hush has integrated a secure protocol, HushList, which permits a contact list of infinite receivers. Users can opt to send from a pseudonymous address while ensuring that receivers always remain anonymous. HushList functions as a secure messaging platform where financial transactions are treated as messages under a pseudonymous username or as an anonymous participant. These messages are stored on the blockchain and can only be decrypted using the receiver's private key. This strategy provides robust security and a censorship-resistant storage unit of information.

Question 6

What are the unique security features of Hush?

Accepted Answer

Hush prides itself as the first cryptocurrency offering the zkSNARK (from the Zcash1.0.13 build), TLS (secure nodes), and TOR nodes. These features make Hush one of the most secure and advanced privacy coins ever created. HushList memos are stored on the blockchain in an encrypted form, decipherable only with the receiver's private key. In addition, unlike many other cryptocurrencies, Hush protects user metadata by anonymizing it at the protocol level, enhancing security and privacy. Also, Hush's TOR nodes allow for anonymous internet connections, adding another layer of privacy by masking the user's IP address and location. TLS or Transport Layer Security adds yet another layer of security for data exchange on the Hush network.
